A young tennis talent from SJKT Saraswathy Kedah, Mathivathena Balamurugan, has made her school and family proud after delivering an impressive performance at the 36th MBPJ/MILO 2026 Open Junior Tennis Championship.
The Year 6 student emerged as the champion in the Girls’ Doubles 12 & Under category, securing the top spot alongside her doubles partner at the tournament held at the MBPJ Sports Complex, Kelana Jaya, Selangor from August 29 to September 2, 2026.

Mathivathena also showcased her individual talent by advancing to the semifinals of the Girls’ Singles 12 & Under category, placing her among the top four players in the event. Her achievements reflect dedication, discipline and determination she has demonstrated in developing her skills in tennis.
Her success has become a proud moment for the SJKT Saraswathy community, with the school congratulating Mathivathena for bringing recognition to the school through her sporting achievement. The school also expressed its appreciation to her parents, coaches and everyone who has supported and encouraged her throughout her journey in tennis.

Beyond the medals and results, Mathivathena’s achievement serves as an encouraging example for other students to pursue their interests and develop their talents beyond the classroom.
