Indian para-archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar have rewritten their own world record after scoring an outstanding 1,400 points out of a possible 1,440 in the compound mixed team qualification at the 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad, India.
The duo surpassed their previous world record of 1,339 points, which they set during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Their latest performance at Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront secured them the top seeding for the mixed team event, marking another major milestone in their successful partnership.
Sheetal, 19, also delivered an impressive individual performance, scoring 698 out of 720 to finish first in the women’s compound qualification. Rakesh recorded a career-best 702 points, placing second in the men’s qualification.
Sheetal, who was born without arms, has risen to become one of the leading figures in international para archery, while her partnership with Rakesh has already earned India a mixed team bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
Their latest record-breaking performance highlights not only their remarkable accuracy and consistency but also the growing strength of Indian para-sports on the international stage. With the pair continuing to raise the bar, their achievement in Ahmedabad has once again placed them among the sport’s biggest names.
