Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has appointed Amit Mehta as it’s new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), which is effective from 1st October 2026.
Mehta will succeed Manu Wadhwa and become part of SPNI’s Senior Management Team. Wadhwa, meanwhile, will continue the journey with the company as a Strategy Advisor.
In his new position, Mehta will lead SPNI’s People and Organisation function, along with Administration and Facilities.
He will work closely with the company’s CEO and Senior Management Team, focusing on areas including talent, and succession planning, leadership development, company culture, employees experience and organisation effectiveness.
His role will also involve building the skills and capabilities needed to support SPNI as the company moves into it’s next stage of growth.
Over 16 Years of HR Experience
Mehta has over 16 years of experience working alongside CEOs and business leaders, particularly in areas involving growth and organisational change. He joined SPNI from upGrad, where he served as Chief Human Resources Officer. During his time there, he led the company’s people strategy, including leadership effectiveness, organizational capabilities and transformation.
Before joining upGrad, Mehta spent more than 14 years at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL).
His most recent position at HUL was HR Head, Home Care & Leadership Development, South Asia. Throughout his time with the company, he held a few roles covering talent, and leadership development, employer branding, organisation design and business HR across sales, marketing and digital commerce.
Mehta completed his Post Graduated Diploma in Human Resources at XLRI Jamshedpur. He also holds a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology from VJTI Mumbai.
SPNI Looks Towards it’s Next Phase
Gaurav Banerjee, Managing Director and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India, welcomed Mehta to the company and said his experience across both established and fast-growing organisations would be valuable to SPNI.
He said that strengthening leadership, company culture and employee experience would play an important role in SPNI’s future growth as it works towards becoming a more future-ready organisation.
Banerjee also thanked Wadhwa for her leadership as CHRO and said he looks forward to her continued contribution to the company in her new role as Strategy Advisor.
With Mehta stepping into the position in October, SPNI is placing a stronger focus on it’s people and leadership as it prepares for it’s next phase of growth.
