Fancy Baking Academy has officially opened its doors, offering aspiring bakers and culinary entrepreneurs a practical space to develop their baking skills, explore their creativity, and build opportunities in the food and baking industry.
Launched on September 11, 2026, the academy is part of the growing Fancy culinary field which was founded by Vigneswari Naraja, better known as Vyna. The expandation began with Fancy Custom Cakes in 2019 and has since expanded to Fancy Bakehouse and Fancy Academy.
Vyna’s Bold Leap From Corporate Banking To Baking Entrepreneurship
Vyna’s own journey into baking began after she made a career transition from corporate banking. Starting Fancy Custom Cakes as a home-based business with limited resources, she built the brand through hands-on experience, continuous learning and formal training.
Her entrepreneurial journey was also supported by a TEKUN Nasional loan, which contributed to the growth and development of her baking business. Today, Fancy Baking Academy aims to make quality baking education more accessible, inspiring, and enjoyable through practical learning.
“Our journey began with a home-based baking operation, and we understand the importance of learning through practice, perseverance and continuous improvement,” said Vyna.
Sponsoring Young Women From Sri Saradha Devi Illam
To mark the academy’s opening, Fancy Baking Academy is also giving back to the community by sponsoring 10 young women from Sri Saradha Devi Illam Children’s Home, Rawang, through its Dessert Table Business Certification Programme valued at RM3,900.
The sponsorship provides the participants with a comprehensive two-day hands-on Dessert Table Workshop, including all the ingredients, materials and equipment required for the training. Each participant will also receive a Certificate of Completion, along with three months of online business coaching and mentorship.
The programme further provides guidance on starting, pricing and marketing their own dessert table businesses, as well as practical support aimed at helping them generate a sustainable income.
Through the initiative, Vyna hopes to equip the young women not only with baking skills, but also with the business knowledge and confidence needed to begin their own entrepreneurial journeys.
A Platform For Baking And Entrepreneurship
Guest of honour VKK Rajasekaran Teagarajan, President of the KL & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also welcomed the academy’s opening and highlighted its potential to support aspiring bakers.
“It is an honour to be part of this meaningful occasion and to witness the opening of Fancy Baking Academy,” he said.
He described the academy as an inspiring platform for aspiring bakers to develop their talents, gain practical knowledge and pursue new opportunities within the culinary industry. He also commended Vyna and her team for creating a space that encourages creativity, entrepreneurship and excellence in baking.
Practical Training For Different Skill Levels

The academy offers five tiers of training, ranging from single-day classes for beginners to a 12-day intensive programme aimed at those looking to pursue baking professionally or develop it as a business.
With its focus on practical learning, creativity and skill development, Fancy Baking Academy hopes to inspire the next generation of bakers and pastry professionals while providing aspiring entrepreneurs with skills that can be developed into sustainable business opportunities.
