Human Resources Minister Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan will coordinate efforts to establish a new platform connecting Malaysian and Indian business communities, following an agreement between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The platform aims to strengthen business networks between both countries, explore new investment opportunities and develop wider economic cooperation, with a focus on ensuring that increased investment translates into quality employment and better income opportunities for Malaysians.

Ramanan said economic diplomacy should not only strengthen relations between countries, but also deliver tangible benefits to the people, particularly through the creation of quality jobs, improved wages and greater opportunities for career development.
During the official visit to India, Ramanan accompanied Anwar alongside Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani in discussions with Modi on strengthening Malaysia-India strategic ties, particularly in trade, investment and emerging growth sectors.
India, as one of the world’s largest economies, has strong capabilities in high-value sectors including technology, the digital economy, semiconductors, professional services and manufacturing. Greater cooperation in these areas could attract new investments while supporting technology transfer, talent development and skills enhancement among Malaysia’s workforce.

According to Ramanan, the proposed platform will serve as a bridge between businesses from both countries, allowing them to expand their networks, identify investment opportunities and establish new economic partnerships.
He also stressed that the initiative should go beyond strengthening business and investment relations, with its success ultimately measured through tangible outcomes for Malaysians, including more quality and high-value employment opportunities.
The initiative reflects the government’s broader focus on ensuring that Malaysia’s economic growth is accompanied by stronger workforce capabilities, better-paying jobs and opportunities for Malaysians to develop skills needed for high-value industries.
