For many young Malaysians, getting into university is an exciting step towards building their future. But for some families, the cost of higher education can make that dream harder to reach.
With this in mind, Creador and Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) have come together to launch the Creador Scholarship for Excellence & Opportunity, a new need-based scholarship for deserving Malaysian students.
Launched on 14th September 2026, the programme is built around one main idea, a student’s future should not be decided by their financial situation.
The scholarship is aimed to give talented and hardworking young Malaysians the opportunity to pursue their higher education at APU and build a stronger foundation for their future.
Creating Opportunities Through Education
Education has long been an important area of focus for Creador. Together with APU, the organization hopes the scholarship can help students who have the ability, and ambition to succeed but may not have the same financial opportunities as others.
Brahmal Vasudevan, Founder and CEO of Creador, said there are many young Malaysians who have worked hard and have big dreams but simply need an opportunity.
“We started this scholarship because we do not believe financial circumstances should determine how far a young person can go,” he said.
He added that education can change not only a student’s life but also the lives of their family members. Creador also hopes that scholarship recipients may eventually be able to create similar opportunities for others in the future.
More Than Just Praying for University
While financial support is an important part of the scholarship, Creador and APU want students to gain more than a university qualification.
At APU, scholars will have opportunities to take part in student activities, extracurricular programmes and industry engagement, while also meeting people with different experiences and perspective. The aim is to help students build practical skills, confidence and connections alongside their academic knowledge.
Datuk Parmjit Singh, CEO of APU, said talent can come from anywhere and young people should have the right support and environment to reach their potential.
Through the scholarship, APU hopes to support students for whom university costs may otherwise be a major barrier. It also aims to prepare them for meaningful careers in technology and other growing industries through skills development and industry exposure.
Who Can Apply?
The Creador Scholarship for Excellence & Opportunity is open to eligible Malaysian students, including recent SPM, STPM and UEC graduates.
Both Creador and APU hope the programme will grow into a long-term initiative, supporting future generations of Malaysian students.
While some recipient may eventually enter technology and innovation, others could become entrepreneurs, professionals or leaders within their communities. Whatever path they choose, the goal is to give them the opportunity and support needed to take that first important step.
