A group of young Malaysians are taking part in the international stage at the International Youth Festival 2026 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Their participation brings Malaysia’s voice to an international stage.
Malaysia is represented by a delegation of 52 youth and teen leaders, with 15 Malaysian Indian youths and teens among those selected to participate in the international event.
The event brings thousands of young leaders around the world together, creating a space for youngsters from different countries and backgrounds to meet, exchange ideas and learn from one another.
Throughout the festival, the Malaysian delegates are taking part in intercultural sessions, where they have the opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives while learning about other cultures and communities.
They are also building connections with fellow participants from around the world, giving these young Malaysians the chance to develop international networks with other future leaders.
The 15 Malaysian Indian’s participation also opens an opportunity to show the diversity of Malaysian youth on a international platform.
Among the Malaysian representatives highlighted at the festival are Vichitra, Dr. Losheni, Thasshidaran, Lakshmy, and Hashatiniy.
More than representing their own communities, the participants are representing Malaysia as a whole. They will be sharing the country’s identity, ideas, and experiences with young people from different parts of the world.
They will also be speaking about the role young Malaysians can play in youth, leadership, international exchange and youth diplomacy.
The Malaysian delegation’s involvement was made possible through the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM), which works closely with the International Youth Festival (IYF) Directorate on global initiatives, international exchange programmes and youth diplomacy efforts.
Through such programmes, young people are given opportunities to step beyond their own communities, experience different cultures and build relationships that cross borders.
For the 15 Malaysian Indian youth and teens taking part this year, the International Youth Festival is not only a chance to represent their community, but also an opportunity to carry the Malaysian flag and Malaysian youth voices onto a global stage.
