Director Atlee has once again expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards Vijay, fondly referring to him as “Vijay anna” while reflecting on the actor’s important role in shaping his journey in cinema.
Speaking at the audio launch of Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa, Atlee recalled how Vijay continued to support him after the success of Raja Rani. Their collaboration went on to produce Theri, Mersal and Bigil, allowing Atlee to grow as a filmmaker while working with one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars.
Atlee also remembered when Shah Rukh Khan approached him about Jawan. According to the filmmaker, Vijay encouraged him to take up the opportunity and assured him that the film could change the course of his career. Atlee eventually went ahead with the project, which became a major milestone in his career.

While Atlee acknowledged that everything he has achieved came through his own hard work, he also emphasised that Vijay’s support played an important part in helping him reach where he is today. Expressing his gratitude, Atlee said he is “so happy and thankful to Vijay anna,” adding that no matter where life takes them, Vijay will always remain his anna.

For Atlee, Vijay’s contribution to his journey goes beyond their films together; it represents the encouragement and belief that helped him take bigger steps in his career.
