Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu has continued his efforts to support students through SISWA Perai 2026, providing 40 deserving students with brand-new laptops last Friday.
Each laptop is valued at around RM2,000 bringing the total value of the latest contribution to RM80,000.
According to Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu , since the beginning of 2026, he has personally committed close to RM300,000 to support more than 120 students through laptop contributions and financial assistance.
He explained that the initiative does not use any government allocation. Instead, the assistance is fully funded through his personal savings from his corporate career before entering politics.
Using Education to Create More Opportunities
Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu said his own journey helped him understand the challenges faced by families from modest backgrounds and how access to education can make a major difference in a young person’s life.
For the students receiving the assistance, he said the laptops and financial support is more than their monetary value. They provide access to knowledge and opportunities while giving students the tools they need to continue their education and work towards a better future.
He encouraged the students to make full use of the assistance to pursue their studies, develop their potential and achieve their ambitions. Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu also expressed hope that when the students become successful in the future, they will give back by helping others and creating opportunities for the next generation.
SISWA Perai Enters Its Third Year
SISWA Perai is now in its third consecutive year, continuing its focus on supporting education and helping students access the resources they need to progress academically.
Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu stressed that a student’s financial or family background should not prevent them from receiving a fair opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.
He added that the initiative will continue with education still an important part of building a stronger and more inclusive society. For Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu this is to ensure that no student is left behind and more young people are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
