More than 300 B40 mothers came together in Kuala Lumpur on September 19, 2026 for the Ibu Legends Summit 2026, organised by the Nicol David Organisation (NDO) to celebrate and empower mothers while recognising the strength, aspirations and stories behind their journeys.
Held under the theme “You Are the Cover Star”, the second edition of the Summit marked NDO’s largest Ibu Legends gathering to date. The one-day event highlighted the everyday experiences of mothers while reminding them that their own well-being, dreams and personal growth deserve attention too.
The Summit forms part of NDO’s wider Ibu Legends programme, which was launched in 2024 to support B40 mothers through initiatives focused on holistic wellbeing and personal development. Throughout 2026, the programme welcomed two new cohorts and conducted workshops and activities covering mental wellbeing, parenting, nutrition, physical wellbeing and financial literacy.
According to NDO Co-Founder and CEO Mariana de Reyes, the programme was created around the belief that investing in mothers can help strengthen families and communities. She said the Summit provided mothers with a space to connect, learn and celebrate their progress, while reminding them that their stories and aspirations matter.
Ahead of the Summit, NDO also organised a Cover Star Search, inviting mothers to submit a photograph capturing a day in their lives alongside a personal story reflecting their challenges, journeys and aspirations.
The initiative saw 47-year-old Nor Santy binti Samsinoor named as the winner. Her story reflected the challenges of motherhood and the strength she found to persevere through them. Nor Santy binti Samsinoor said the Ibu Legends programme gave her an opportunity to be recognised not only as a mother, but also as an individual with her own dreams and story.
Meanwhile, NDO Founder Datuk Nicol David highlighted the strength, sacrifice, growth and dreams that often form part of a mother’s journey. Through Ibu Legends, she said the organisation hopes to remind mothers that their wellbeing and aspirations matter, and that they deserve to step into the spotlight themselves.
The Ibu Legends programme has reached more than 300 mothers since its launch, while NDO’s three flagship programmes, Ibu Legends, Little Legends and +Play, collectively reached 2,741 beneficiaries across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Sarawak and Sabah in 2025.
The 2026 Ibu Legends Summit was supported by Yayasan Hasanah, Cartier and Watsons, further supporting NDO’s efforts to create opportunities for B40 communities through sports, education and wellbeing.
