A long-standing request by the management of the Kuruvimalai Sri Maha Kaliamman & 7 Kannigai Temple has finally been resolved, with 0.8 acres of land now allocated to the nearly 80-year-old temple.
The temple management had been seeking approval for the land for many years, but previous applications were rejected. The matter subsequently brought to the attention of Dato’ Sivanesan Achalingam, who stepped in to assist the temple management in addressing the issue.
Following discussions, Dato’ Sivanesan facilitated a visit by the relevant land officers to the temple site. The visit allowed the officers to better understand the temple’s situation and the land-related concerns raised by the management and devotees.
The temple has stood as part of the local community for around eight decades. During the development of nearby housing areas in the 1970s, the temple also underwent some renovations to accommodate the changing needs of the growing community.
With the land matter now resolved, the temple management and devotees can look forward to greater assurance regarding the temple’s future. The allocation also marks an important milestone in preserving a place of worship that has served the community for generations.
