To support students beyond the classroom, Dato’ Sundarajoo Somu presented free spectacles to students attending his free tuition programme at the Perai Service Centre on September 18, 2026.
The initiative was carried out under “Tuisyen Kita, Perai Kita,” which currently provides free tuition classes to 30 students from two SJKT schools in Perai. The programme caters to Year 4, 5 and 6 students, with free Bahasa Melayu and English classes conducted by full-time educator Ms Prema. The classes are aimed at helping students strengthen their language skills while also reducing the financial burden of tuition fees on their families.
Recognising the students’ learning needs extend beyond academic guidance, free spectacles were provided to those who required vision support. Having suitable eyewear can help students read learning materials more comfortably, follow lessons more clearly and complete their schoolwork with greater case.
Dato’ Sundarajoo highlighted that efforts to support children’s education should consider the challenges they experience in their daily lives. While a pair of spectacles may seem like a experience and provide additional support to their families.
Through initiatives such as this, the programme continues to focus not only an academic development but also on creating a more supportive learning environment for students. The assistance is hoped to encourage the children to remain confident in their studies, continue pursuing knowledge, and work towards achieving their aspirations.
