Upon meeting Shreya Ghoshal during the Grammy Recording Academy panel, Lara Raj was over the moon and could not stop fangirling over the Indian icon. The duo were part of the Shaping the Sound: South Asian Music, Culture & Industry panel, organised under the Academy’s Gold Music Alliance.
This is a prominent event that brought together distinguished South Asian voices to congregate and discuss their ever-growing influence on the global music landscape. The standout scene, however, unfolded backstage between the legendary vocalist and the rising global pop star.
Lara Raj, a Tamil-American artist, could not contain her excitement upon sharing the stage with Shreya Ghoshal. Lara took to her Instagram Stories shortly after the panel, posting a behind-the-scenes photograph capturing her starstruck reaction, which Ghoshal later reposted.
Lara captured the significance of her encounter in a caption, writing, “I got to speak on a beautiful panel about south asians in music today with the Bollywood queen @shreyaghoshal”
“I’M HONORED,” the vocalist added.
However, for Lara, the appearance carried a much more personal significance as it is pertinent to note that the KATSEYE member had actually met Ghoshal as a little girl back in 2012. More than a decade later, she found herself meeting the veteran singer again, but this time as a fellow artist and panellist.
