A 31-year-old businessman has been charged at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrates’ Court with the alleged murder of his domestic helper, an Indian national, in Titiwangsa last month.
N. Stevent Anthony appeared before Magistrate Khairunissak Hassni on October 5, where the murder charge involving K. Tamilarasi was read to him. The case has attracted attention as the victim was an Indian national working as a domestic helper in Malaysia.
Murder Allegedly Took Place in September
According to the charge, Stevent is alleged to have murdered Tamilarasi at a residential building in Titiwangsa between 4 am and 10.55 am on September 24, 2026.
The charge was brought under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which concerns murder. However, details surrounding how Tamilarasi died have not been publicly disclosed in the reports, as investigations and forensic procedures are still ongoing.
No Plea Recorded in Court
Although the charge was read to Stevent and he indicated that he understood it, no plea was recorded.
This is because murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court. Therefore, the Magistrates’ Court proceedings at this stage do not amount to a finding of guilt against the accused.
Stevent was represented by lawyers Carenjit Kaur and Khairunissa Azzahrah Ghazalie, while the prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Ainna Maryam Nor Azman.
Next Court Mention Set for December
The court has fixed December 16, 2026, for the next mention of the case.
The date is expected to allow authorities to obtain the post-mortem and chemical analysis reports, which form part of the investigation into Tamilarasi’s death. No bail was granted to the accused, according to reports.

Accused Faces Serious Penalty If Convicted
Under Section 302 of the Penal Code, a person convicted of murder may face the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years. Where the death penalty is not imposed, the law also provides for a minimum of 12 strokes of whipping.
At this stage, however, Stevent is only facing a murder charge and has not been convicted. The case will continue through the appropriate legal process, with the forensic reports expected to play a role in the next stage of proceedings.
The identity and personal background of Tamilarasi, including her age, have not been fully disclosed in the available court reports.
