At a recent promotional interview, Karthik Subbaraj shared details of his next, revealing it will be a direct-to-OTT film for Netflix.
Following the success of Dorothy, his critically acclaimed Tamil drama and his 10th directorial feature film this year, the filmmaker noted that the untitled project stars Prabhu Deva, Atharvaa and Upendra and also revealed that he finished the “first schedule of the shoot for the movie before beginning promotions for Dorothy.”
Subbaraj also added that his team has already finished one schedule and will begin the next schedule in the second week of next month.
The filmmaker expressed that the script he is currently working on is based on Puliyaattam — a traditional folk art dance from Tamil Nadu, performed by dancers who paint their bodies or wear costumes to resemble a tiger.
“The script I’m currently working on is based on Puliyaattam. It’s a film that will create huge expectations visually. If this film had a theatrical release, it would be a massive visual spectacle. But Netflix has been involved with the project right from the beginning,” he said in a recent interview to a publication.
He also disclosed that the film is an adaptation of a novel to which he had added his own touch. “I have acquired the rights to a novel and have added a few elements of my own to adapt it into a film,” he added.
