Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) has introduced MyBakat, a new framework aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s talent development ecosystem by connecting skills development with industry needs and emerging employment opportunities.
The initiative was announced during the inaugural Minggu MyBakat by TalentCorp 2026, which attracted 3,000 participants from various talent segments, employers, government agencies, education and training institutions and industry partners.
The launch also saw the introduction of two initiatives, the Malaysia Talent Readiness Index (MyTRI) and the MyBakat Talent Incubation Programme (MyBIG), to strengthen efforts in identifying talent readiness, addressing skills gaps and preparing Malaysians for the evolving job market.
MyBakat Aims To Connect Talent With Industry Needs
MyBakat brings TalentCorp’s local talent development initiatives under a clearer and more connected framework, with an emphasis on aligning workforce development with Malaysia’s economic priorities.
As technology continues to transform industries, employers increasingly require workers with relevant and adaptable skills. Through MyBakat, TalentCorp aims to strengthen the connection between Malaysians seeking career opportunities, employers looking for skilled workers, and institutions responsible for education and training.
The initiative also reflects TalentCorp’s evolving role since its establishment in 2011, as the organisation works to anticipate changes in the labour market, identify future workforce requirements and support the development of talent that meets industry expectations.
MyTRI And MyBIG Introduced To Strengthen Talent Readiness
Two initiatives were introduced alongside MyBakat to support a more targeted approach to talent development.
The Malaysia Talent Readiness Index (MyTRI) is intended to help assess talent readiness and identify gaps between existing skills and industry requirements. The information can help inform efforts to prepare Malaysians for changing workforce demands.
Meanwhile, the MyBakat Talent Incubation Programme (MyBIG) is designed to support talent development based on industry needs, complementing efforts to address identified readiness gaps.
Together, the initiatives form part of TalentCorp’s broader approach to preparing Malaysians for employment opportunities while ensuring talent development remains relevant to the needs of employers.

Dato’ Ramanan: Malaysians Must Be Prepared For Future Jobs
Human Resources Minister Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan said talent development must progress alongside Malaysia’s economic direction, particularly as artificial intelligence (AI), digitalisation, new technologies and the green economy reshape the employment landscape.
He emphasised that attracting investments, adopting new technologies and developing industries must be accompanied by efforts to equip Malaysians with the skills required to participate in these growing sectors.
Dato’ Ramanan also highlighted TalentCorp’s role as a strategic think tank under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), supporting the Government in understanding talent requirements, anticipating labour market changes and aligning workforce development with industry needs.
Through the National Talent Incubation Ecosystem (NTIE) and Future Skills Talent Council (FSTC) model, TalentCorp works with industry stakeholders from the early stages of training development to ensure programmes remain relevant to employers.
The approach aims to create clearer pathways towards skills development and quality employment while strengthening Malaysia’s workforce competitiveness.
Minggu MyBakat Draws 3,000 Participants

The event was officiated by Dato’ Sri R. Ramanan and attended by Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, alongside representatives from government agencies, industries, employers, education and training institutions, and strategic partners.
