The 27th Annual Miss MalaysiaIndian Global (MMIGLOBAL) Personal Empowerment Programme came to a memorable close as Kavitha Malathy, a journalist from Puchong, Selangor, was crowned Miss MalaysiaIndian Global 2026.
Apart from winning the title, Kavitha received a full higher-education scholarship from Veritas University, a round-trip flight to Japan and RM3,000 in cash. The prizes reflect the programme’s focus on helping women pursue education, explore new opportunities and grow beyond the pageant stage.
Kavitha also took home the Miss Congeniality title, recognizing her friendly personality and the close friendship she built with the other contestants.

Reflecting on her journey, Kavitha shared that the programme’s community outreach activities had been one of the most meaningful parts of her experience. They helped her better understand the importance of giving back to society.
She also spoke about the strong sisterhood formed throughout the programme, where contestants supported, encouraged and learned from one another.

The grand finals also celebrated four other contestants who earned places among the top five:

1st Runner-Up: Shajana Vincent (Negeri Sembilan)
2nd Runner-Up: Yashwini Ravindranath (Selangor)
3rd Runner-Up & Gift Her with Life Ambassador: Sharon Ganash (Negeri Sembilan)
4th Runner-Up & Gift Her with Life Ambassador: Ashsweta Muniandy (Selangor)
Beyond the competition, MMIGLOBAL continues to focus on women’s personal growth, confidence and community involvement, encouraging participants to use their experiences to make a difference in society.
Making History With a Focus on Sustainability
This year’s programme also introduced an important environmental initiative, which MMIGLOBAL describes as a first for a parent organization.
Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Brewspark Technology’s Blue Santa programme, MMIGLOBAL has introduced a system to track and reduce the carbon footprint of individual participants.
The initiative is supported by partners including Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (CEMACS) and the Consulate General of Japan.
The effort aims to encourage direct action towards reducing carbon emissions in Malaysia while bringing greater awareness of environmental responsibility into the pageant.
Supporting Students Through Education Grants
Another meaningful moment during the grand finals was the presentation of 18 Small Subsistence Grants to tertiary education students under MMICARE’s longstanding Meal and Tuition programme in Kapar, Selangor.
Since 2022, MMICARE has helped 37 at-risk children from B40 families complete their SPM examinations and continue their education through its Gift Her With Life Fund.

All funds raised from the grand finals will go directly towards supporting MMICARE’s community programmes, including personal empowerment outreach workshops held across Malaysian public universities.
Since the workshops began, they have reached more than 20,000 female students, helping young women develop confidence and prepare for future opportunities.

With Kavitha Malathy taking home this year’s crown, the 27th Miss MalaysiaIndian Global programme concluded as more than just a celebration of its winners. It also highlighted the importance of education, friendship, sustainability, and giving back to the community, values that remain at the heart of MMIGLOBAL’s mission to empower women.
