The much-awaited Ramayana has unveiled a new musical treat with the release of its Tamil single, Ravana Thandavam on October 20, 2026. However, what makes the release even mor exciting is the coming together of three of Kollywood’s prominent music directors, A.R Rahman, G.V. Prakash Kumar and Anirudh Ravichander, for a powerful track inspired by the legendary king of Lank, Ravana.
Composed by A.R Rahman, the song features G.V. Prakash and Anirudh lending their voices to the same track for the first time. Blending rap and rhythmic chants, Ravana Thandavam draws inspiration from Ravana’s devotion to Lord Shiva, bringing an intense musical energy to the character in the upcoming epic adaptation.

Adding to the excitement, Anirudh took to X to express his gratitude for being part of the project. Sharing his appreciation for Rahman, he wrote, “Grateful to have sung the Shiva Tandava sthothram #RavanaThandav for my dearest @arrahman sir in #Ramayana along with my brother @gvprakash.”

The post highlighted Anirudh’s excitement over the opportunity to work with Rahman and collaborate with G.V. Prakash Kumar on a track for one of the most anticipated Indian films. His heartfelt message also gave fans a glimpse into the significance of the musical collaboration.
Meanwhile, G.V. Prakash Kumar revealed that his involvement came unexpectedly after he received a call from Rahman’s studio inviting him to record the Ravana theme song. He reportedly completed his portions in approximately two hours at Panchathan Record Inn in Chennai, just six days before the song’s release.

G.V. Prakash also shared his happiness at recording a song for Rahman after several years and expressed his delight upon learning that Anirudh would be joining him on the track. The song features lyrics by Ilango Krishnan, with Rahman composing the music.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part 1 stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 5 November 2026, with music by A.R. Rahman and internationally renowned composer Hans Zimmer.
