Malaysia’s top women’s doubles badminton pair, Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan, secured the silver medal at the French Open 2026 after finishing as runners-up in the women’s doubles final at Arena Grand Paris on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
The world No. 4, put up a strong fight against Japan’s Mayu Matsumoto and Yuki Fukushima but eventually went down 21-10, 17-21, 16-21 in a 64-minute encounter. Despite missing out on the championship title, their run to the final marked another significant achievement for the national pair on the international stage.
Pearly-Thinaah started the match confidently, dominating the opening game 21-10 with their attacking play and sharp court coverage. However, the Japanese pair responded strongly in the second game, winning 21-17 before maintaining their momentum to take the deciding game 21-16 and successfully defend their title.
The silver-medal finish also saw Pearly-Thinaah make history as the only Malaysian women’s doubles pair to reach the French Open final twice. The duo previously captured the title in 2022, becoming the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to win the prestigious tournament.
Their latest achievement follows an impressive victory at the Denmark Open the previous week, highlighting their continued competitiveness against the world’s best. They also won the Indonesia Masters in January, making the French Open their second runners-up finish of the season’s major run after their recent triumph in Denmark.
