The National Unity Ministry is encouraging Malaysians to join the National Deepavali Celebration in Brickfields on November 14, 2026, with more than 10,000 visitors expected to attend the event.
The celebration aims to bring people from different backgrounds together through cultural performances, heritage showcases and festive activities, providing an opportunity for Malaysians to experience the traditions of Deepavali while strengthening unity and understanding among communities.
Deputy National Unity Minister R. Yuneswaran said the programme would feature activities from morning until night, allowing visitors to enjoy the festive atmosphere and learn more about Indian culture and heritage.

The event is expected to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Bringing Communities Together Through Deepavali
Beyond celebrating the Festival of Lights, the national-level programme serves as a platform for Malaysians to connect and appreciate the country’s multicultural identity.
Brickfields, known for its vibrant Indian cultural heritage, will host a range of activities, including cultural performances by local artistes and heritage showcases such as Rumah Malaysia.

The ministry hopes the celebration will encourage greater participation from Malaysians of all ethnic backgrounds, creating opportunities for communities to interact, share cultural experiences and build stronger relationships.
By opening the celebration to the wider public, the programme highlights how cultural festivals can go beyond religious and ethnic boundaries to foster mutual respect, inclusivity and a sense of belonging among Malaysians.
The National Deepavali Celebration is expected to serve as a gathering for people of different backgrounds to celebrate together, appreciate the Malaysian Indian community’s cultural heritage and reaffirm the importance of living harmoniously in a diverse society.
Members of the public are encouraged to take part in the celebration and experience the spirit of Deepavali through a day of culture, community and togetherness.
