Malaysian photographers Satish Kumar and Barathan Amuthan will be exhibiting their work at the upcoming community festival, TSQ CommUNITY Fest 2019.
Titled Return Ticket – A Duo Travel Photography Exhibition, the event will showcase travel photographs by the talented pair. Barathan’s cleverly framed photos will show his eye for creative compositions while Satish’s candid photography will depict life as it really is.
Satish
Satish Kumar is an avid photographer who moonlights as an actor. He began his foray into photography as a hobby until his partner gifted him her dad’s Canon EOS888 (a film camera) a few years ago – the beginning of his film and experimentation days.
In 2017, Satish bought a mirrorless digital camera, the Fuji XT-1 which helped him grow and progress exponentially as a photographer, culminating in 2 shows, ‘Real & Reality’ at Chapter One (2016) and the ‘Merdeka Group Show’ at University Malaya (2018). Satish will be starring in the highly anticipated Malaysian Tamil film, Metro Maalai.
Barathan
Armed with 10 years of experience in the photography industry, Penang-born Barathan Amuthan considers allowing viewers to see through his eyes as his best asset. Carrying the title of Canon EOS Youth Ambassador Malaysia, his numerous accolades include the Photographers Pursuit & Activities Malaysia (PPAM) certification, in which he attained the Advanced Photographer title.
Barathan’s knack for eternalising moments through stills paved the way for his photos to be published by Canon Malaysia, Canon Asia and Canon Philippines on their social media platforms.
Barathan’s shots in Return Ticket capture the rich cultural diversity reflected in the country’s architecture, people and their lifestyle. As for Satish, the exhibition will showcase his photographs taken from his travels to Vietnam, Indonesia and India. This, he says, reflects his intention to capture the essence lives being lived – a way for him to return to the life he’s lived.
The TSQ CommUNITY Fest 2019 will be held from the 30th of November up until the 1st of December 2019 at Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya, Selangor. The two day festival will also include fitness events, performances, film screenings, poetry sessions, board games, a vintage market and much more for the entire family to enjoy.
Satish & Barathan’s Return Ticket will officially open at 2pm on the 30th of November, at Glassbox, Level 4. The exhibition will be launched by local Malaysian art patron and collector, Professor Dr Krishna Gopal Rampal. The exhibition will run up until the 4th of December, from 12 noon to 7 pm daily. Admission is free.
