Singaporean crooner Suthasini Rajenderan has released her latest Tamil single, Dark & Lovely (Karuppu is Your Shade).
The tune is as in-your-face as the title, and we are so happy that someone has finally made an awesome rap song about this issue! Penned and composed by Suthasini herself, Karuppu is Your Shade is an ode to the gorgeous dark skinned girls who have been made to feel unworthy because of the billion dollar skin whitening industry.
The singer asks some deep questions, like where are the dark skinned actresses? Why are the dark skinned women in the far back of the scene. She also questions fairness cream, and what are they really changing.
The comments on Dark is Lovely has been very positive, with hundreds of girls commending her for breaking the horrid ‘fair is beautiful’ stereotype. Nice done, Suthasini!
