Who said Indian food can’t be romantic? We have concocted a list of five Indian restaurants for you to celebrate Valentines Day at. After all, who can resist canoodling over some thick mutton curry?

Aliyaa – Island Restaurant & Bar

Okay, this isn’t Indian. But the food here is too good for anyone to resist. Easily the best Sri Lankan cuisine in town, Aliyaa has built a name for itself in the ranks of those who desire spice without compromising quality. From an array of piquant sambols to their signature lamprais to their ultimate crab curry, Aliyaa has it all. Better yet, they have beers on tap, an enviable liquor and wine list as well as delicious cocktails. Hit them up for some seriously spicy sensations this Valentines Day!

They’re also having a Jaffna Food Festival next week for all those who want an authentic take on food from the motherland.

Frangipaani

A North Indian restaurant that takes its inspiration from flowers, Frangipaani is probably most known for their impeccable service and hip atmosphere. This Valentines, the good people behind the restaurant have curated a beautiful set menu for two with some eclectic choices like lobster tandoor glazed with parmesan cheese. We hear that their cocktails are to die for as well!

The mother of all Indian fine dining in Malaysia is Nadodi. Known best for their course meals which fuse South Indian and Sri Lankan cooking styles, this restaurant reinvents our traditional dishes to serve up some delectable courses. This Valentines Day, Nadodi is serving up Iberico lamb, short grain venison briyani and scallops in ginger mayo curry in their romantic 12 course menu. We are already in love.

With flavours that will send you and your date to another planet, Kayra doesn’t disappoint in the dessert department, clutching tightly to their South Indian flavours in every treat. Sporting a menu that is made up of Indian fusion dishes, Gin Rik Sha is one of those laidback places to go this Valentines day. Nestled in Bukit Damansara, this restaurant makes for a quiet respite from the city. The cocktails here are excellent, and the food utterly delicious, thanks to the clever fusing of traditional Indian flavours with other elements. Buttermilk prawn with mantau bun anyone?
