Director Manimaaran will be teaming up with character actor Samuthirakani for Sangathalaivan. Television anchor Ramya also plays the lead in this movie alongside Karunas and Sunu Lakshmi of Aram fame.

The story of the film is adapted from a Tamil novel ‘Thariyudan’ penned by Bharathinathan. It talks about the issues pertaining to the textiles industries across western districts of Tamil Nadu.
The filmmaker will focus on the lives of handloom weavers and the struggles they face on a daily basis. Srinivasam cranks the camera while Robert Sargunam will be composing the music.
