Less than a week after his Singapore concert was postponed, Rajhesh Vaidhya’s Kuala Lumpur concert has also been postponed. Rajhesh Vaidhya Live in KL was scheduled to go on this Sunday, the 15th of March 2020. Due to heightened concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, the concert has been postponed to the 25th of July. The venue remains the same, the PJ Civic Centre.
Founder of Swara Layam House of Music and Arts and the organiser of the concert, Bawani Balachandran, said to Bernama, “We made this decision due to the growing concerns of COVID-19. We deeply regret and truly understand the disappointment of the audience, but we need to prioritise the safety and health aspects of our partners, students, public and artist,”
Bawani said ticket holders can discuss with the organisers on whether to retain the tickets or seek a refund. For further information of ticket returns for Rajhesh Vaidhya Live in KL, call Elizabeth 016-225 8797 and/or Jayanthi 012-297 0351.
In addition to Rajhesh Vaidhya Live in KL, this weekend will see the biggest Tamil concert of the year, Mojo Projects’ Maestro Illayaraaja Live in KL, held at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, the 14th of March 2020.
This event promises a hundred-member orchestra alongside Ilayaraaja and Indian music industry veterans, such as SP Balasubrahmanyam, Mano, Haricharan, Shweta Mohan, Usha Uthup, Vibhavari, Surmukhi, Madhu Balakrishnan, Priya Mukesh, Bhavatharini and Anitha.
This concert appears to be on track for this weekend, despite Illayaraaja himself voicing concerns over the possible pandemic at a recently held press conference in India. He was assuaged by the representatives of the Malaysian government saying that 22 of the 55 people infected have been treated (as of 7th March 2020).
The organisers have announced measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 on their social media handles, with thermal scanners and hand sanitisers in place on the day of the event.
