Kudos to the Penang people and their state government for handling the Covid-19 crisis efficiently. The state recorded no new Covid-19 cases as of Monday (May 4) for a straight 8 days since the last two cases were reported on April 26.

Initially, many Penangites did not comply to the MCO rules. Eventually, with the tight measures and strict rules, they became an example for other states.

According to statistics provided by the state Health Department, the last two cases were discharged on Monday. Previously, Penang fell short by just a few days to be declared as a green state with two cases recorded in north Seberang Prai on April 26.

The state has so far 121 cases with one fatality.
