The caretakers of the 100-year-old Sri Madurai Veeran Temple in Alor Setar, Kedah, have been instructed to demolish the shrine in 10 days, Makkal Osai posted.
The little shrine, which is positioned in Jalan Kereta Api facing the Alor Setar KTM Station, was constructed by the Indian workers who worked at the Death Railway during the Japanese occupation of then Malaya.
One of the shrine’s guardians, Vijay Mohan Chandrasekaran, stated that the Menteri Besar had given them a month to relocate.
They were shocked to get a notice from the Alor Setar City Council ordered to demolish the shrine in 10 days.
