Local Film ‘Sughamaai Subbulakshmi’ Receives Excellent Feedback After Media Screening

Sughamaai Subbulakshmi is a local Tamil movie directed by one of Malaysia’s young and promising filmmaker, Karthik Shamalan. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the same guy who gave us the slasher-thriller, The Farm: En Veetu Thottathil.

Sughamaai Subbulakshmi is a new venture by Karthik Shamalan – it revolves around love, friendship, family, pain, and suffering, including some comic relief. The screenplay is carefully crafted by Karthik Shaman himself.

After a recent media screening, Sughamaai Subbulakshmi received a lot of positive and excellent feedback from members of the media and bloggers alike.

Here’s what local blogger Sukesh Pandian from Boggler Blogger said about the film:

Another renowned blogger, Uthaya Sankar SB, said he was equally impressed with the quality of production, storyline, and all the six songs in the movie! Here’s what he said about the film:

Saya berpeluang menonton sepenuhnya filem Sughamaai Subbulakshmi di Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia (Finas). Dalam masa 10 minit sahaja, filem ini berjaya membuatkan saya sedar akan mutu tinggi yang dimilikinya – Uthaya Sankar SB

Aside from that, the film has already picked up two awards at the 9th Norway Tamil Film Festival.

Film director Karthik Shamalan won the ‘Best Director Tamil – Diaspora’ award for his brainchild. Apart from that, actress Punitha Shanmugam picked up the ‘Best Actor – Female Tamil – Diaspora’ award at the film festival.

Sughamaai Subbulakshmi stars Saresh, Punitah Shanmugam, Bagya Arivuckarasu, Kuben Mahadevan, and G Crack Karnan. It is set to hit cinemas nationwide on the 17th of May 2018.
