TikTok has been taken down from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in India.

This comes after the government of India announces the ban on 59 Chinese apps in the country. These apps have been banned over concerns related to the threat to India’s security and society.

TikTok is no longer available to download in the country, meaning the new users can’t install it on their smartphones. However, if you have the TikTok installed on your phone, you can keep using it, for now, but if you remove it for any reason, you will not be able to get it back.

Meanwhile, TikTok has responded to the move and said, that they have been invited to meet with concerned government stakeholders for an opportunity to respond and submit clarification.

TikTok has more than 119 million active users in India and this is not the first time the app has been banned in the country. Previously, the app was blocked over concerns about pornography content but it was relisted on Play store and App store in a few days.
