Malaysia has reported 1240 new Covid-19 cases today as revealed by the Ministry of Health (MoH). Presently, there are seven (7) deaths, two (2) imported cases, 1238 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases amounting to 27,805 Covid-19 infections in the country.

Of these, 17,825 have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

Another set of Covid-19 cases have been reported in the country, this time around infecting an employee from Block D of Oasis Square, Petaling Jaya. In a statement, the management office confirmed that the employee visited Oasis Square on 9th October, but had only drove through the management office to retrieve office papers by her colleague.

The management has since carried out sanitisation and disinfection work in all common areas of Block D. Meanwhile, co-workers of the Covid-19 patient have been ordered to undergo quarantine.

At the same time, a few employees from Menara Bangkok Bank, on Jalan Ampang have similarly tested positive for Covid-19 and are now being treated at the hospital. The bank in a statement said that the affected floors and general facilities have been fully sanitised.

An employee at the Negeri Sembilan Education Department in Seremban had also been tested positive for Covid-19. The case was confirmed by Negeri Sembilan exco for education Mohamad Rafie Abdul Malek. He added that the department was closed for sanitation and the employees’ close contacts are being screened for the virus.

According to the state Health Department, Seremban currently has 179 active cases, with two sub-districts-Ampangan and Labu-as red zone areas. The Ministry of Education in Seremban will close all schools and educational institutions in the red zone areas. A total number of 177 schools have been impacted by the pandemic in the district.

With 96 new cases reported, Negeri Sembilan saw a spike in Covid-19 infections, which was the second-highest in the country. The ministry also added that students who sit for examinations at private schools during this moment are required to first submit a letter from their respective schools.

Check out the full list of schools that have been closed.

Meanwhile, the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya has now been extended for another two weeks until 9th November.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was taken today on the advice of the MoH, based on the fact that there are still high-risk locations in the three regions.

Globally, more than 42.6 million people have been affected by the virus outbreak, which began in December last year. In total 1.14 million people have lost their lives due to various Covid-19 complications.
