Following the surge of COVID-19 cases this month, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the Movement Control Order (MCO) 2.0 will be enforced from 13th January till 26th January. The MCO 2.0 will be in full effect in six states namely, Penang, Selangor, Johor, Wilayah Perseketuan, Putrajaya, Labuan, Melaka and Sabah.
Meanwhile, the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will be enforced in Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan. He also mentioned that the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) will be implemented in Perlis and Sarawak.

In a live national broadcast here today, Muhyiddin said that social events, including wedding receptions, engagement parties, reunion gatherings and religious events are not allowed during the MCO.
Interstate and inter-district travel is NOT allowed!

Today, Malaysia has seen 2,232 new cases of Covid-19, with cumulative active cases rising to a new peak of 28, 554. There are four deaths reported today, which brought the cumulative number of Covid-19 fatalities in the country to 555.
