Having enough food has been the most essential sought after need by many during this indefinitely unbearable year mainly caused by the global pandemic, as it has left thousands without jobs while driving some off the cliff for their inability to feed themselves and their families.

In an effort to bring food to the table for many struggling folks out there, three good samaritans have started their own food stall to feed the needy and homeless who have been deprived of the very basic necessities in life, food being one of it course.

Nabindran Borah, Sanjay Jayashankar and Duncan Nages Scully opened their food stall under the name; Quarantine Home Food.

Their food stall is located in the heart of Sungai Pinang Food Court, Penang. The three awe-inspiring chefs in their twenties who formerly worked at a restaurant; The Spice Kitchen, now run the food stand solely by themselves.

At the start and end of each working day, they say a humble prayer, worshipping for the future of their small eatery which opened on 10th February, as well as their desire to feed the poor and homeless.

Many aren’t able to afford full meals, let alone pay for additional delivery charges when ordering online. That’s why the price of our food is one of the cheapest in Penang. Delivery is even free for customers who live within a 10km radius.

The January lockdown imposed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic had a detrimental impact on various industries. The trio were not only forced to take salary cuts, but they were only employed in the restaurant’s kitchen for only three days of the week.

The three friends, eager for a way to augment their meager earnings, took a gamble and established Quarantine Home Food.

Their heartiest meal comes with a super economical price catering for everyone. Marking the spot as the state’s most cheapest eatery, this place has drawn a mass amount of customers flocking by to devour their tantalising meals!

Meals begin at RM4.50 and go up to RM6, which is a great deal considering the large servings, whether you order meat or vegetarian dishes.

Their restaurant also displays a number of key signature dishes exclusively made by the chefs curated for the vast number of customers and preferences!

Duncan, at 21 years old, is the youngest of the three, has his own key trait, sambal kitchen, ensembled at their stall. Seasoned with the skill of a professional chef, this recipe was passed down to him from his grandparents, and it’s a rural-style dish because his grandfather taught him how to cook it when they lived in a village, incorporating the sweet, sour, and spicy flavours of the dish.

For some hot spicy flavours to make your ears smoke, be sure to try Nabindran’s special pepper chicken. Being a chef himself in his own restaurant situated in Sungai Petani, named Spices of Penang, handling the wok, curating mouth watering dishes has always been his explicit skill!

It’s a definite must try to splurge on the flavours of these special dishes if you were ever to visit this spot at Sungai Pinang Food Court, Penang.

Driven with an amazing intention to help the homeless and needy, their kitchen is never stored with leftovers. At the end of the day, the trio packs all the dishes, feeding it to the homeless around the area for free!
