The government has pledged to allocate RM100 million to the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) in the 2021 Budget, to support the B40 group by empowering them through education.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin promised to continue assisting Malaysia’s Indian population via the principle of sustainable growth.
Muhyiddin said that with increased economic development, the wellbeing of the Indian community will be secured, with more opportunities from the government to better their livelihoods, in his virtual speech at MIC’s 74th annual general assembly.
“Our step forward is to ensure the goal of fair and equitable sharing of national prosperity through the 2030 Shared Prosperity Vision (2030 SPV) be achieved,” he said.
Apart from that, the 2030 SPV will help the Indian community immensely, with no one being left behind.
“We will take care of you. This is our pledge to you,” said Muhyiddin.
“This includes the Indian community, no matter your living standards, wherever you are,” the PM concluded.
We really do hope the government stands by the B40 Indian community in its continuous effort to lift their standards of living and education is perhaps the most integral part in ensuring the community strives well.
