In a post on 6th May, his coach also mentioned that;

With all of these covid tests, he couldn’t leave the hotel for a few days and could only eat burgers and fries. Today was cold and very windy, he was still shivering 45 minutes after his race.

Prabudass who hails from Negeri Sembilan finished 49th, breaking his previous best record of 1:07:29 set in Gold Coast, Australia in 2019.

In an interview with Astro Awani, he stated that he was scheduled to compete in the Malaysian Grand Prix in April but had to withdraw due to a viral fever. He was hospitalized for four days in a row and had to miss two weeks of training.

So, when he found out about the competition in Japan, he only had 7 days to train and prepare. Hence, he actually did not set out to break the record because his coach advised him to compete in order to gain experience.

However, he happened to break his own record, which filled him with joy and fueled his desire for his next run.

Prabudass, the 2017 SEA Games 5,000m silver medalist, will now turn his attention to the track in order to qualify for the Hanoi SEA Games at the end of the year, where he hopes to compete in the 5,000m and 10,000m events.
