As we witnessed an increasing transmission of COVID-19 and the slow process of rolling out vaccination prolonging the pandemic in Malaysia, ProtechHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Anas Alam Faizli made an announcement recently stating that twelve private hospitals across the nation are all set to serve as COVID-19 Vaccination Centres (PPVs) from today onwards, 25th May.

According to his Twitter account, Dr Anas mentioned that the hospitals will begin prescribing 2,250 doses per day, with the prescription figure predicted to rise in the upcoming weeks.

As part of the government’s National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, a total number of three states are involved as COVID-19 Vaccination centres namely Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak. We have curated a list of twelve hospitals which provide vaccinations to the public.

Selangor

-KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital

-MSU Medical Centre

Negeri Sembilan

-Nilai Medical Centre

-Senawang Specialist Hospital

-UCSI Hospital

-KPJ Seremban Specialist Hospital

-Mawar Medical Centre

Sarawak

-Columbia Asia Hospital, Miri

-KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital

-Rejang Medical Centre

-Timberland Medical Centre

-Borneo Medical Centre

To date, Malaysia is waging a vigorous battle against the third wave of COVID-19. Having reported over 518,600 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic last year, including 2309 deaths on 24th May.

At the same time, according to Graphic Reuters, only 5% of Malaysians have received at least one dose while 3% have been fully vaccinated. It glaringly shows that Malaysia has a long way to go for the very fact that half of the population have yet to receive their first vaccine dosage.

Let’s hope the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in private hospitals will curb the spread of the virus and eventually reach herd immunity.
