Are you a history kind of movie lover? If yes, Singapore’s recent flick entitled Mugavari must be on your movie list.
Penned and helmed by acclaimed director Nagharaj, Mugavari is the most unique and fascinating Singapore film about the Japanese Occupation. Delving deeper into grittier and darker stories set in Singapore, the film features talented casts such as Venga, Ashwini Nambiar, Kokila, Karthikeyan Somasundaran, Gayathri Segeran, and Sugid in prominent roles.
This heartbreaking story was inspired by the legendary writer P Krishnan’s Kaathirundha Nenjam. The original story takes place in Russia during World War 2, and the director has rewritten the script based on the Singapore-Japanese occupation. It was an outstanding performance from each of the casts, as they have brought those stories back to life.
You’ll surely enjoy this inspiring tale, which has a couple of fantastic dialogues, and the dialogue which caught my attention was:
What’s wrong with having scars, son? Those are heroic battle scars!
A really good film, what else is there to say?
Without further ado, have some tissues ready to watch this movie as it’s the epitome of a tearjerker.
