Known as one of the famous food chain of Indian restaurants in Penang, Sri Ananda Bahwan is helping the health ministry raise awareness among Penangites on the importance of being vaccinated. The restaurant is providing free meals to those who have completed the two dosage vaccine requirement.
The idea and effort was incepted by the chain owner to encourage vaccine participation among the islanders, in hopes they register for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program (NIP).
According to Sri Ananda Bahwan Group director Veera Harikrishnan, customers who have completed their vaccination will be able to redeem the restaurant’s signature and best-selling Chicken Biryani meal for free. With a total 13 outlets, the free meal promotion began from June 28th and will last till July 4th, (11am till 2pm).
The free meal can only be redeemed once, and the restaurant operator has set up a system to ensure who has claimed it before. Through their entire distributions, they’ve garnered a favourable response from the public. The response remains a driving force for them to reach more people even faster. The restaurant chain has provided nearly 500 free food packages so far, and will continue to do so on a regular basis.
“We hope that this initiative would motivate and incentivise the public to register for COVID-19 vaccination, where only roughly 76% of Penangites have done so far, according to official figures. There are still a lot of people who have yet to sign up through MySejahtera,” said Veera.
The brainchild of this effort should get a round of applause from us!
