Mani Ratnam, just like Gautham Menon is one of the few directors who consistently brings the best out of his composers. Mani Ratnam’s previous films like Thalapathi (music composed by Illayaraja) and Dil Se (music composed by AR Rahman) has given us all time classic hit songs like Chinnathai Aval, Rakkama and Chaiyya Chaiyya. And Mani Ratnam’s latest feature, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, set to be released on the 27th of September — that’s right, next week! — has some pretty awesome songs too.
As part of the marketing campaign, the producers of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam have been dropping the songs on the interwebs one by one. The latest of the songs is Kalla Kalavaani (video above). Judging by the placement of the song in the trailer and the imagery in the lyric video, it’s safe to say that the song will most likely be Simbu’s character’s theme.
And if you’re wondering what’s my favourite song from the film, thus far? It’s undoubtedly Bhoomi Bhoomi.
Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is helmed by industry veteran Mani Ratnam (Thalapathi, Nayakan) and will be lensed by industry veteran Santosh Sivan, who has worked on films like Thupakki and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. This cinematographer previously collaborated with Mani Ratnam on Raavan, Raavanan and Thalapathi A.R. Rahman will be the film’s musical composer. The film is set to hit the big screens on September 27 2018.
