Over the last recent years, Malaysian film makers have produced plenty of award-winning and entertaining flicks. It’s trivial to think of great Hollywood films. It’s a little more hard to ascertain those made in your own backyard.

Azhaggiye Thee, a local Tamil film has our hearts swelling with pride after paving its way to Amazon Prime video. Produced by Dato Athy, the good news was announced by the lady herself on her social media platform. Check out her Instagram post below:

Helmed by Loganathan, the film got its theatrical release in June 2019. New talents such as Saresh D7, Latha, Shabeetha, Gunasegaran, Yuvaraj and many more were featured in this film.

On the music front, music composer Jay has tuned in beautiful songs for the film.

Loosely based on real events, the film portrays the realities of urban poor Malaysian Indians who are burdened by hardship, financial limitations, and even witnessing them involved in vice activities, notoriously drug trafficking. Azhaggiye Thee combines romance and suspense in its narrative, also has aspects of light-hearted humour laced with societal truths.

The tale of a young girl from an estate who had lost both her parents, moves to the city in the hope of getting a job. However, that’s when her life turned upside down after she met a man who had duped her into becoming a drug mule. She was trying to settle her sister’s debt and a special syndicate was finally brought down by the police.
