Actor Ajith Kumar, who is preparing the release of his upcoming film ‘Valimai’ is one the most loved and admired actors of the Tamil Kollywood industry by both fans and celebrities around the world. On 1st December, a statement from his side was released and has touched the hearts of many fans.
Fans began referring to Ajith as Thala after seeing him in the film ‘Dheena,’ directed by AR Murugadoss. Dheena was referred to as Thala in the film by fellow actors, and the term remained with him following the film’s popularity. Since then, not just fans, but also the media and industry personalities, have referred to Ajith as Thala.
Yesterday, Ajith Kumar requested his fans, the public and the media to refer to him just by his name not as Thala or along with any other prefix before his name.
Ajith’s manager, Suresh Chandra shared a note on his Twitter on behalf of Ajith Kumar:

Previously on 1st May 2011, which was also Ajith’s birthday, he made an announcement stating that the Ajith Fan Club which has been functioning under his name would be dissolved from May 1st. Ajith signs off by saying that only dignity and support from his fans would be the best birthday gift.
Despite the unexpected statement, many fans were taken aback, but many of them also praised Ajith.
Dismantled his fans club, keeps himself away from the filmy or heroic titles like Thala and Ultimate star, stays away from regular film promotions, started playing the roles of his age yet his superstardom remains unshakeable! #AK #AjithKumar #Ajith – he knows what he is doing! pic.twitter.com/hU5jVwSoKW
