Two empowering Malaysian students have placed our Indian community on the nation’s academic map.

According to the Istana Negara Facebook page, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah conferred the prestigious Scholarship for the 2021 session to 10 recipients at the Istana Negara here.

BYDPA offers 12 scholarships, six each at the master’s level and PhD level to study in the fields of Science and Technology, Economics, Law and Islamic Finance.

Mogesh Sababathy who has completed his Marine Biology degree with excellence at University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has also received a scholarship to pursue his Doctorate (PhD) level under Clinical and Health Sciences (Stem Cells).

Previously, the Commonwealth Youth Award 2021 finalist who has managed his success whilst being the recipient of the Royal Education Award from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has also been seen alongside Elancheleyen at the prestigious session.

Also known as the co-founder of ‘Project Ocean Hope’, the 24-year-old young lad through campaigns and youth leadership training has raised awareness of ocean issues and environmental conservation.

To fill you in, the application for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong 2021 scholarship (BYDPA) for local as well as overseas Master’s and Doctorate (PhD) programmes began last April.

Established in 2016, to date a total number of 175 individuals have received the prestigious scholarship to pursue their studies at local research universities as well as the world’s leading universities in the fields of Science and Technology, Economics, Law and Islamic Finance.

In addition, Elancheleyen will be pursuing a Master’s degree programme in Tissue Engineering at the University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). It was truly an amazing honour for the 24-year-old who has a strong passion in the field.

Our heartfelt congratulations to all the recipients!
