What a better day for us to start the week off on the right foot!
National para archer Suresh Selvathamby has once again made us proud by setting the seal on the Phuket Asia Para Archery Tournament 2022 in Thailand.
A silver medal for our homeland and what makes us even more prouder was, it was contributed by our first Malaysian Para archer who won gold at the world championships, following his victory in the open individual recurve event at the 2019 edition in S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
During the semi-final yesterday (27th March), Suresh eliminated the hosts’ Pornchai Phimthong 7-1 to advance to the world ranking event gold medal match. The 28-year-old faced another hosts’ representative, Hanreuchai Netsiri, who recorded a 7-1 win against Sampath Bandara of Sri Lanka in the other semi-finals, today.
Recently, the Kedah-born champion was honoured with the National Para Sportsman at the 2019/2020 National Sports Awards (NSA), which took place at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, another Malaysian archer Wiro Julin and Nur Jannaton Abdul Jalil also bagged a bronze medal each in the men’s and women’s individual compound events.
Congratulations on your incredible achievements, Suresh & our para-archer team!
