How many of you are familiar with each state’s flag in Malaysia? Come on, it’s simple, right? Well, how many of you can name flags from different countries around the world? Neither 1 nor 10… A total of 241 FLAGS! Isn’t that impossible? Devakshean Devakumaran, however, possesses the knowledge necessary to recognise and correctly identify the flags of 241 different countries.
The most shocking thing is the fact that he is a two-year-old.
The incredible talent earned two world records at the same time for being the world’s youngest kid to identify and reciting a maximum of 241 country flags. They are the Cholan Book Of World Records, as well as the Jackhi Book of World Records on 26th June 2022 at Melia Hotel And Resort, Kuala Lumpur.
With this double distinguished feat of their little son, Devakshean’s parents Devamalar Gumaran and Devakumaran Arumugam have shared their excitement and information about Devakshean’s talent with Varnam MY.
The proud Seremban native couple were overjoyed, especially now that their son’s skill has been acknowledged and has received two recognitions simultaneously. This pair is having the time of their lives.
Devakshean began to recognise and correctly pronounce colors at the age of one and a half, according to another astonishing claim they made. At that point, their parents learned that Devakshean has exceptionally sharp memory.
Devakumaran Arumugam, the boy’s father, said that at first, he identified with the Malaysian flag ‘Jalur Gemilang’.
“On a beautiful morning, we went outside with our son, who pointed to the “Jalur Gemilang”—our country’s flag—and said, “Malaysia.” We were surprised at the time because up until that point, he had only watched rhymes with national flags. But he was able to recall that and still recognise it,” he said.
That’s where this couple started to pay more attention to Devakshean’s gift in identifying flags.
From it, he identified the flags of many nations one by one. In three months he identified more than 225 countries’ flags correctly. Currently, Devakshean can identify the names of the flags of a total of 241 countries and the names of 46 territories.
“Devakshean is attracted by the colors as he already started to identify it since he was a year old. That motivated us to help him learn and get to know all the countries in the world,” his mother noted.
To be completely honest, Devakshean’s parents put a lot of effort into trying to discover their son’s potential. It is quite evident that his parents’ love and support are the only things that have enabled him to reach this point.
Nothing can beat our parent’s prayers and support.
“Whatever happens, we always talk to him positively. We always make him feel proud of himself. We never fail to praise him for every little thing he does. That has kept him to go further,’ his father added.
While asking about Devakshean’s future plan, his parents stated that they will assist him in his respective field of interest.
“As of now, we are just going with the flow. Our responsibility is only up to assisting him to achieve whatever he is interested in. Not only this, we as parents will always be there for him to make his dream come true in the future” the couple said divinely.
