The teaser of artsy flick Mehandi Circus is here and we are in awe. Written by Raju Murugan, the man behind Joker and Cuckoo, this film features newcomers Madhampatty Rangaraj and Shweta Tripathi in the lead.
Debutante director Saravanaa Rajendran looks to be one to watch out for in the industry, as he has cohesively brought together a cast of new and veteran artistes and paired it with excellent cinematography for Mehandi Circus. Sean Roldan has composed the music for the film, and the tune of the violin tugs at our hearts with the promise of a brilliant album.
The director assures us that it is not a traditional love story, and the film will be set in the 1990s. There will be two backdrops for the film, a circus and a musical centre. A musical centre is a place people used to visit in the 80s and 90s to record their favourite songs onto a cassette.
It has been a while since a circus was featured in a Tamil film. Real circus performers were cast, and Sweta Tripathi underwent rigorous training to play a circus performer.
