Do you have any special talents? How many do you have? The answer is we all are gifted in one way or another, it’s just a matter of discovering these talents, sharpening them and presenting them to the world.
One of the most common pieces of advice is that having skills is crucial because they allow us to grow both personally and professionally. With that, here is a young gifted lad who has made artistic skills his life’s purpose and can do almost anything—bake cakes, paint, design antiques, style hair and makeup, assemble floral bouquets, etc.
Young enthusiast Keevan Rajaratnam, 23, is slowly but surely carving out a niche for himself in the make-up industry. With a wide range of extraordinary talents, this guy not only seized his chance to pursue his desired job but also won the hearts of many with his unwavering talent.
The passionate sensation shared his artistic journey with Varnam Malaysia recently.
Born and raised in a large, conservative family, the young prodigy was preserved as precious to his family. The devoted achiever’s interest in the arts was encouraged and fostered by his mother Theresa, a source of strength and inspiration.
My mum is my biggest inspiration – Keevan
“My mother is an artist, thus I am talented in all of these areas. She always tries new things and is open to picking up new talents. Even if she is unsure, she will strive to learn and succeed in it”, expressed Keevan.
His mother encouraged him to develop both academic and general knowledge from an early age by allowing him to discover his artistic talent.
“My inspiration for everything I have done up until this point came from watching television shows that included various artistic aspects, such as cooking, fashion design, painting, etc.”, stated Keevan.
Coming from a middle-class household, Keevan has experienced hardship. Despite this, he was inundated with necessities, most notably education, and was driven to master additional abilities.
“I wanted to pursue a degree in fashion design after SPM, but I wasn’t encouraged to do so because the fashion sector was still low-key then. As a result, I had to give up my goal and continue with my higher education in business.”, said Keevan.
The proverb goes, “When one door closes, another one opens.” The aspirational young man made every attempt to chase his ambition without losing his hope on his passion.
“Deep down, I still wanted to follow my ideal job. Hence at the age of 19, when I was about to finish my diploma internship, I applied for a job and was shortlisted, which completely altered my life”, the wunderkind added.
“With Blush Beauty, I was able to view the world more lucidly, and my career was the greatest thing that changed my life”
Being employed as a personal assistant to the well-known makeup artist Blush Beauty Beyond, the art enthusiast crossed an item off his bucket list, and the rest is history.
“God has blessed me with Dinesh Anne and Hanu Ka. They treat me like their own kid, and to me, they are more than just family. They introduced me to a new world, taught me everything, and elevated me. I am proud to claim them as my second parents”, expressed Keevan.
Keevan’s progress has not been smooth, as he has been plagued by numerous setbacks, physically and mentally, along the way.
The kind hearted young lad had to deal with bullying, rejection, and humiliation which exacerbated his fear because people had never been good to him ever since he was young. He was naive, and the inability to say NO to anyone became an advantage to others, which was too late to grasp.
“My tendency to lose motivation quickly leads to depressing thoughts. Overcoming this and getting back to my normal self has been one of the hardest parts of my life”, Keevan said.
“I’m grateful for everything that shaped me into the person I am today”, he expressed with pride.
The inspiring youth turned all of his shortcomings into triumphs along the way, and he will continue to do so.
“My best achievement to date has been stepping outside of my comfort zone in order to learn more about the makeup industry and have the opportunity to interact with wonderful people. I can do hair and makeup much better now than I was able to do the prior time.
“Beyond that, I started my very own business including arranging bouquets, baking cakes, and conducting online workshops as a side hustle, and today I am financially stable and handle my own affairs.”, said the doer.
It’s difficult for me to pick a favourite among baking, cooking, draping sarees, hairstyling, food styling, and makeup because I adore doing them all. – Keevan

The young prodigy ultimately aims on becoming a fashion designer.
The driven guy is determined to improve his craft in order to accomplish more than he has. He is also anticipated to add craftsmanship to his list of abilities.
“I’m currently working on my brand, soon to be announced. To ensure that I achieve my goals and bring about change, I put in a lot of effort. For the time being, it is a secret; but, time will reveal all for which I have worked hard for,” quoted Keevan.
