Rocketry Team 92 Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM); A very big spotlight shone on the FIRST and ONLY team which has participated in the Spaceport America Cup 2022 by securing 7th place in the 10K Category and 12th in the overall SA Cup 2022.
Phewww, out of all odds, they’ve put Malaysia on the world map, and we can’t thank them enough as the entire team makes us beaming with pride.
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
With that being said, the team has started the HEBAT project from scratch which means with ZERO real rocketry experience. With much effort, dedication, and determination, their achievement has really amazed their family members, peers, Uni alumni and of course the entire Malaysians.
Led by rocket enthusiast Vanmitha, the team has launched a Malaysian-made high-powered rocket at 10 000 ft in New Mexico under the Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) category. The project mission is to launch a rocket at 10k feet and recover it back safely and deploy a Nanosat that lands autonomously by using quadcopter tech.
THANK YOU, MALAYSIA! -VANMITHA
Spaceport America Cup 2022, known as the world’s largest intercollegiate rocket engineering conference and student rocket launch competition, saw students from all over the world gathered at this world-class spaceport facility to launch their rockets.
Formed in September 2021, the entire team took part in the Spaceport America Cup 2022 for the first time, and they were among the 63 teams who qualified for the final round. Held from 20th to 25th June 2022, the much-anticipated competition took place in New Mexico, America.
Since day 1 of the competition, you guys have stepped up to the challenge and flown our National flag by making significant breakthroughs in the aerospace field. We are immensely proud of you, Wau Rocketry team!
Thank you and best wishes on your upcoming projects!
