Indeed a remarkable feat in the Malaysian Education system.
With more than five years of experience in the education field, Dr Veera Singham K Genasan was recently bestowed with an honourable Fulbright Malaysian Scholar Award from 2022 to 2023.
The award is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by MACEE (Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange).
The senior lecturer from the Centre for Chemical Biology at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) will be receiving the full fund as part of this scholarship to conduct his research for six months at the host institution of his preference, the University of California, Riverside in the United States.
Dr Veera’s grant work will focus on seeking solutions to insecticide resistance and resistance management of the public health pest, the tropical bed bug, Cimex hemipterus, which is currently a major cosmopolitan pest around the globe.

Being an expert in Entomology, Pest Management as well as in Genetic and Molecular Biology, he bagged two awards and honours under his hat, nationally and internationally in the 5 years of his teaching venture. The passionate educator not only teaches at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) but he is also an alumni of USM having obtained a Degree and Masters from USM.
