Do you enjoy being immersed in the rhythm of the music while watching a beautiful feast played in dance form? Then you’ll be overjoyed by this news!

Laasya Arts Academy is set to conduct an alluring musical rendition aptly titled Varalatru Naayagiyar on the 16th of September at 7.01 pm at Shantanand Auditorium, Temple of Fine Arts. This heavenly recital will be solely performed by the brilliant “Nritya Tara Thivyaa Abiraami Kunasegeram”.

Varalatru Naayagigal is a dance drama depiction based on the real-life story of 5 historically renowned Indian women.

Through this rendition, they are making an honest attempt to weave a fabric draping the Naari Shakti of South India with original colours from the life history of 5 Great Women (Annai  Mangayarkarasi, Manimegalai, Karaikkal Ammaiyar, Rani Velu Naatchiyar, Avvaiyar) who are still green in the hearts of Indians for their courage, bravery, spiritualism and intellectual prowess.

We can still hear their faint cry for freedom and wisdom in our day-to-day hustle-bustle; hence the goal of this performance is simply to bring back the warrior in every woman who mirrors these great souls from the past.

This is a dance production, conceptualised and music composed by “Madura Natya Maamani” Guru Smt Guruvayur Usha Dorai, with lyrics penned by Dr Bala Tharmalingam.

Furthermore, the event hops to transcend the current generation through the historical accounts of feministic movements prevalent in our culture. This production will be conducted in Tamil with each heroine having a piece written specifically for them.

Besides, the performance presented in this show will be beautifully crafted to revolve around a specific Rasa to highlight the significant turning points in the lives of 5 heroines.

Laasya Arts Academy warmly welcomes everyone to join and watch their celestial classical tribute. Better yet, admission is FREE!

What exactly are you waiting for? Lock your calendars and get ready to be submerged in an ocean of music.
