Without any scepticism, the multiple award-winning singer-songwriter, music producer, and performer Shabir Tabare Alam is swaying his way up to the international level, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievements.
With that being said, Shabir has added another coveted award to his hat by bagging the Artistic Excellence Award at the Compass Awards Presentation ceremony on 25th September 2022.
The first Independent Music Artist & Film Composer of Indian and Tamil descent was awarded the Singapore Youth Award, the highest national honour given to young achievers by the Singapore Government.
Highly regarded as one of the most prolific music artists in Singapore, he works prolifically in the Tamil cinema industry with 7 films in his repertoire and has published many albums gaining him a loyal following across Singapore, India and Malaysia.
It’s notable that Shabir’s Dejavu and Nagara Vaytai, were the first Tamil music videos to be aired on MTV Asia.
One of his songs Yaayum, from the thriller flick Sagaa, garnered over 105 million collective views on YouTube, causing the Indian media to hail his debut as a music director. In addition, Shabir co-wrote and lent his vocals to the title song of Kollywood Superstar Chiyaan Vikram’s ‘Kadaram Kondan’ film.
In conjunction with its 25th-year annual award presentation, it serves to recognise local musicians and songwriters for their outstanding achievements. Tabulations for the royalty-based categories are for works performed in 2020 and assessed in 2021.
Congratulations Shabir!
