The Perak Contingent police team unearthed an unidentified decomposed body in the bushes while investigating an accident involving a car that had crashed into a drain at the traffic light intersection in Jalan Tambun.
While waiting for the official confirmation about the actual identity of the 23-year-old woman, a lot of rumours have been circulating around the social media platforms.
To clear the air, Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri revealed the real identity of the victim as Shankavi, who was last seen going to work in Jelapang last week and did not return to her home since 7th October. The identification was made by her family members based on the tattoos, clothes, and handphones that Shankavi wore on the day at the crime scene.
“Police are investigating this case from various angles. Based on the tattoo on the arm and finger, the decomposed body is believed to be that of a 23-year-old local woman. A mobile phone was found at the scene and also confirmed to belong to the victim,“ Malay Mail reported.
According to an autopsy conducted at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Shankavi succumbed to death due to manual strangulation.
Having said that, the case was reclassified as murder and will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Heartfelt condolences to the entire family members & friends of the victims.
